1/18/19 – (UPDATED) Explanations No Excuses: Some Housekeeping Notes on PoliTech

Happy belated New Year, y’all! I am late in welcoming 2019 for the same reason that my minimum pace publication schedule on PoliTech may run late as well. I planned my biweekly minimum publication schedule here to drop a sizable post every other weekend, not including speckling this blog with shorter content as procrastination inspiration strikes. But, no sooner did I emerge from my first sick week of the year — the first week of the year, actually — my computer battery went tits up. I got my laptop back yesterday.

These concurrent set backs cut off more than a fortnight out of the number of days I allotted myself to prep for my upcoming dissertation defense so…

This the reason I did not try to “promote” my January 6th entry on partisan and other demographic trends in third party targeting for Facebook political ads.  I was not only too sick to give it a final cursory edit but too sick to care (it was fine. This is fine. It’s okay, it’s fine).

This is the reason why my minimum publication rate might be as off-beat as a white church congregation. Even though I write and queue material in advance, I do not want to “chuck out” everything at once or anything unedited. I will go back to your regularly bimonthly posts either this weekend or the next. Don’t be surprised if I drop some side posts in-between. While I do write and queue the posts ahead of time, I also have to bracket this time within other responsibilities and manage it wisely, which often means setting a timer for the maximum amount of time I can spend on WordPress a day.

What Comes Next?

Two posts are dropping within days of each other in a week or two. This double whammy consists of an introduction to a new “mini-series” on the blog and its first installment. It’s topic that enough people in my family/outside my academic field/academia entirely asked me about around Xmas break so hey

In the meantime, I should have plenty of Opinions floating about between the 2020 Democratic primary already annoying me on Twitter nah who am I kidding I actually love this stuff kicking off, finally auditing a class for the first time since I finished coursework Relevant to this Personal Blog’s Interest, and, lately, finding my interest peaked by content quite a bit different than what I normally blog about or even research that still falls squarely into the blog’s polymorphous technical purposes.

Right now, in addition to the New Series, be on the look out for a shorter but I think topical extension to a previous post to hit sometime soon.

And now my timer is off. Whether or not you’re here with me (I sincerely hope you are –now or in the future, unknown to me, known, or general), it’s good to be back.
